Invest in ETFs
with a clear process.
There are 500+ ETFs on the ASX. I’m Joshua Stega, a financial adviser for 20+ years, and every week I show you which ETFs are worth owning, when the market favours buying, and when to protect what you’ve got. You keep your money in your own account.
A simple, low-cost way to invest.
An ETF (exchange traded fund) lets you buy hundreds or thousands of companies in one trade on the ASX. New to ETFs? Read our full guide: ETFs explained.
Low cost
Broad index ETFs charge from under 0.1% a year, far less than many managed funds.
Instant diversification
One diversified ETF can spread your money across Australia, the US and the world.
Easy to buy and sell
ETFs trade on the ASX like shares, through any online broker, with no lock-in.
Three steps. One process.
Most people don’t struggle to buy an ETF. They struggle with which one, how much and when. This is the process we follow every week.
Build a strong core
Hold one low-cost diversified ETF for the long term and keep adding to it. Our core ETF check-up rates each one weekly.
Add satellite ideas
Use a smaller slice for themes, regions and commodities, bought at clear buy points with a stop loss.
Follow the signals
Our Market Health-O-Meter tracks 17 markets: risk on, caution or risk off. It tells us when to invest and when to protect capital.
A guide, not a money manager.
Some services invest your money for you and charge a percentage of your balance. We do it differently.
- Your ETFs stay in your own broker account
- A flat fee: $15 or $40 a month, whatever your balance
- You learn the process and make the decisions
- Weekly research, signals and a live Q&A
- Your money is held and invested for you
- Fees are usually a percentage of your balance, so they grow as you do
- Less to learn, but less control
- Suits people who want it completely hands-off

Wrong two times in three. Still ahead.
Our Best Ideas satellite model portfolio has traded 32 ETFs since June 2025 with a win rate of 33%. It’s up 8.21% since inception, ahead of the ASX 200 ETF on 7.64%, because our average winning trade ($887) is far bigger than our average loss ($327). Stop losses keep losses small. When the market turns risk off, we move to cash.

Your questions, answered.
Do I need to open an account with ETF Adviser to invest?
No. You buy and hold ETFs in your own brokerage account (for example CommSec, Stake, Pearler, SelfWealth or your bank’s broker). ETF Adviser is research and education: we show you how we think about the market and which ETFs we’re watching, and you stay in control of your money.
How much does it cost?
Lite is $15 a month (or $150 a year) and Complete is $40 a month (or $384 a year). It’s a flat fee, not a percentage of your balance, so the cost doesn’t grow as your portfolio grows. Both come with a free 30-day trial. All prices are in AUD and include GST.
What’s the difference between Lite and Complete?
Lite is a simple weekly brief for newer investors: the Market Health-O-Meter, our core ETF check-up and simple investing guides, plus the Thursday live Q&A. Complete adds the full Weekly ETF Intelligence Report, a subscriber-only mid-week video, the Best Ideas Model Portfolio, the Income Portfolio and trade alerts.
How much money do I need to start investing in ETFs?
There’s no minimum with us. Most brokers let you buy an ETF with a few hundred dollars. Lite is designed for portfolios under about $50,000; Complete suits investors with larger portfolios who want the full research and model portfolios.
Which ETF should I start with?
Many investors start with one diversified ETF as the core of their portfolio, such as a high-growth or all-growth fund that holds thousands of companies in a single trade. Our core ETF check-up rates these funds every week. This is general information only; the right choice depends on your goals and situation.
What is a core and satellite portfolio?
The core is a low-cost diversified ETF you hold for the long term and keep adding to. Satellites are a smaller slice (often 10–30%) used for themes, regions or commodities with clear buy points and stop losses. It lets you stay invested while still acting on opportunities.
How do you decide when to buy?
Our Market Health-O-Meter tracks 17 key markets to tell us whether conditions are risk on, caution or risk off. When it’s risk on, we look for ETFs breaking out of a base with a defined entry and stop loss. When it’s risk off, we protect capital and wait.
Are ETFs safe?
ETFs are regulated investment products traded on the ASX, and the assets are held by a custodian. But they still go up and down with the markets they track. Broad, diversified ETFs carry less single-company risk than individual shares, while themed or geared ETFs can be much more volatile.
Is this personal financial advice?
No. Our research is general information only and doesn’t take into account your objectives, financial situation or needs. If you want personal advice, speak with a licensed financial adviser.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. There are no lock-in contracts. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel from the members’ area at any time.
